Literary Death Match speeds back to Portland for another hilarious night. Four authors go head-to-head in a battle of wit, agility and utter shamelessness.

Our competitors are Live Wire's genius poet Scott Poole (The Sliding Door), pond-hopping journalist Fiona McCann, cheeky novelist G. Xavier Robillard and saucy mistress of memoir Cheryl Strayed (Wild)!

Three unflappable judges call the shots: From Future Tense Books, Kevin Sampsell (A Common Pornography), punk rock icon Rozz Rezabek, and Live Wire! Radio's goddess of hilarity Courtenay Hameister.

LDM marries the literary and performance aspects of Def Poetry Jam, rapier-witted quips of American Idol’s judging, and the ridiculousness and hilarity of Double Dare. Each episode of this competitive, humor-centric reading series features a thrilling mix of four famous and emerging authors who perform their most electric writing in seven minutes or less before a lively audience and a panel of three all-star judges. After each pair of readings, the judges take turns spouting august, off-the-wall commentary about each story, then select their favorite to advance to the finals. The two finalists compete in a finale that trades in the show’s literary sensibility for an absurd and comical climax to determine who takes home the LDM Crown.

Cost: $6 advance/$10 door
